Chef Katherine Wardle

From the December 2010 Issue of Metroland
For the culinary adventurer on your list, cooking classes abound. For those of you pining away for the morsels Chef Katherine Wardle used to offer up at Kismet (the spread earned her a Metroland Best Art Gallery Food), she’s cooking away up at Cooking Therapy in Rexford, where she teaches classes in crafting everything from strudels and candies to fresh pastas and chops—$75 covers the lesson, the ingredients, the delicacies prepared and maybe even a little accidental “therapy” from this psychologist cum chef.

Sunday December 11, Noon-5pm: Holiday Baking Extravaganza! Cookies---Cookies---Cookies
Never have enough counter space to make those cookies? No place to let the cookies cool or enough oven space so that you can keep up with your product? Mess my kitchen rather than yours! Do your holiday baking at Cooking Therapy.

Cooking Therapy will have prepared ahead an assortment of cookie dough for those of you who just like to shape, cut, bake and decorate. Use a dough press to make classic Spritz cookies. Consider trying a roselle iron or a pizzelle maker.

If you prefer to make your own dough, we will have all the ingredients you want-- let us know ahead of time if you need any specialty items to do your family favorite. Don’t know what cookies to make? We will provide hundreds of holiday recipes.

We have the sheet pans, millions (it seems) of colors and sizes of colored sugar and sprinkles, AND….
Our cookie cutter collection numbers in the hundreds.
How about “brown bag” cookies with intricate designs! Join the fun---we will encourage folks to bake extra and exchange with others so that you can take home an assortment. Don’t slave in that kitchen alone—join others in the fun!

Lunch provided to all—and all the cookies you want.

Cooking Therapy Chef Wins Wine Studies Scholarship!
March 2004 — The New York State Restaurant Association announced that Chef Katherine Wardle was awarded a Donald P. Lancella Memorial Wine Education Scholarship. She used this competitive award to further her skills by traveling to Umbria and Tuscany, Italy in the company of cookbook writer and chef Micol Negrin. While in Italy, Chef Wardle attended culinary classes, visiting vineyards, and participated in educational opportunities to explore wine pairings with both savory and sweet food items. Thanks go to the NYS Restaurant Association for making this wonderful opportunity possible.
